Cleanings and Prevention

Dr. Stephen Zobrist has the experience and skills needed to treat some very challenging dental problems – but he would prefer to help his patients avoid the need for these services in the first place with quality preventive dentistry. The old adage “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” has never been truer than it is when it comes to dental health.

When it comes to teeth cleanings, we take great pride in the experience and skill of Julie Faller our dental hygienist. She will take care of your smile in a precise and personalized way.  She is happy to teach you more effective methods for brushing and flossing, as well as other tips for prevention.

This is important to prevent periodontal (gum) disease, which is a progressive infection on the tissues and bone which hold teeth in place. Undiagnosed or untreated, symptoms of gum disease can range from bad breath to loss of all teeth. In addition, major organs such as the heart and lungs can also be damaged from chronic periodontal disease.

Routine visits can catch problems like cavities in their earliest stages. This allows for simpler treatment and reduces the chances of discomfort. Prophylaxis is recommended twice annually as a preventative measure but should be performed every 3-4 months for patients with periodontal issues.

During your checkup, Dr. Zobrist will complete a thorough examination using our state-of-the-art diagnostic technology and will then discuss your dental needs and goals for your teeth.

Restorative Dentistry

Even trying your best, you may still need some restorative dental work. The daily demands we place on our teeth and gums often result in broken teeth, pain, or tooth loss. Factors including diet, lifestyle, clenching and grinding, and genetics may also affect the condition of your dental health.  Proper dental care is essential.  But it doesn’t always prevent the need for restorative dental treatment.

Restorative dentistry focuses on repair and restoration that can return your mouth to an optimal level of function and appearance. There are many different restorative dentistry procedures, and every patient’s dental restoration process may take a completely different path. With a “less is more” philosophy, it is Dr. Zobrist’s desire to deliver predictable and straightforward treatment. This is best accomplished by educating our patients on their current dental conditions and choosing the best corrective course to achieve long-lasting results.

  • Fillings: Dental fillings restore the tooth when there are areas of decay that have created holes.
  • Root canals: A root canal might be needed when the tooth decay or damage is too severe to be repaired with a standard filling. The root canal procedure removes all damaged material, replaces it with sterile material, and protects the tooth with a porcelain crown.
  • Crowns: Crowns are used to cover teeth that had a root canal, and they may also be used to protect cracked, broken, or otherwise damaged teeth.
  • Bridges: Bridges are used to replace either single teeth or small groups of teeth. Bridges can be removable or fixed in place, depending on your needs.
  • Dental implants: dental implants replace the entire tooth, including the root system. Instead of natural roots, dental implants have metal roots that are planted in the jaw. Dental implants are permanent.
